🍂 A House of Dynamite
By C. Clark
🍁 Money has been a little tight while I look for work, so I decided to cancel all but one of my streaming services. In the process, my Netflix account was put on hold for at least a month. Little did I know that “A House of Dynamite”would be released during that time. I think I first saw an advertisement for it on YouTube.
“A House of Dynamite” is a movie about an incoming missile and the race for answers. Since I rarely enjoy reviews that reveal every detail of a movie (or TV show), I’ll just say this: I restarted my Netflix account the day the movie came out—and I was not disappointed.
Interestingly, some people were disappointed because they said it wasn’t realistic. My thought on that is, why would anyone give away real procedures for the world to see? In my opinion, it was meant to spark conversation and make people think—really think—about what they would do if that situation ever happened. It also served, in my view, as a reminder that all of this is serious.
As I mentioned above, I was not disappointed. In fact, I couldn’t wait to hear what others thought about it. I was so excited that I shared my own reflections online. Here’s what I wrote:
People are not taking all this seriously—especially with the inexperienced individuals being nominated for key positions.Whatever happens, it will happen fast. The movie motivated me, even more than before, to get my go-bag ready (not sure what good it will do, but you never know).
The movie ended rather abruptly, which made me think that one of its main goals was to get people talking—and perhaps to remind us how important it is to have competent people in place.
In Conclusion
I believe this administration—which seems to have focused more on removing people of color and women from the military, deploying troops to American cities, and investigating political opponents—is not prepared for any event similar to what was depicted in the movie. People need to return to taking catastrophic possibilities seriously—and be prepared.
