Decision Made

It’s been a long journey—several years, in fact—but I finally feel like I’ve found my path forward… or at least some solid footing.

Over the years, I’ve done a lot of exploring—looking back, reflecting, and soul-searching. At times, it felt like I was all over the place. But I can see and acknowledge clear patterns.

Those patterns? They’re my receipts. Proof of where I find fulfillment, or some may say passion. Knowing this I can see my path forward—at least when it comes to my work.

I don’t know if every detail matters (and honestly, my notes aren’t the best), but I keep coming back to one thing: Visual Sciences. It was an early data analysis tool I had the privilege of working with—and one of the few things I genuinely enjoyed during my IT career. Because it wasn’t traditional software programming, I didn’t give it much attention at the time.

But once I gave myself permission to embrace what I enjoyed—especially the things others didn’t always value—and started silencing the outside noise… that’s when I began to find my footing.

At one point, I asked AI to define this old software, knowing it had become part of Adobe Analytics. The response described it as “a true pioneer in real-time data visualization.”

That sentence spoke to me.

“A true pioneer.”

“Real-time data.”

“Visualization.”

Each phrase resonated deeply. I realized — those were all the things that I kept coming back to — thus my patterns..

That moment sparked a deeper conversation, and by the end of it, I had clarity: Technical Data Storytelling is where my passion lives—and where I’m choosing to focus my career moving forward.

Exploring & Soul Searching

Looking back, I see that this journey wasn’t random—it was revealing.

I’ve given myself permission to enjoy things I was once told didn’t “count.” Things that felt too easy, too natural to be considered meaningful work.

For example, as a child, I loved saving money—counting it and watching it grow. When I got my first savings account, I loved balancing my checkbook.

And later, I found joy in analyzing my Twitter stats—something that connected back to my time working with Visual Sciences. For a while, I dismissed that interest because it was labeled as superficial or tied to chasing followers.

But once I tuned out that noise, I saw the truth: it was never about the followers.

It was always about the data—and the story it tells.

Going Forward

Now, I see clearly: these patterns are my receipts.

They’re evidence of what I genuinely enjoy—and they’re guiding me toward what’s next.

I’m still gathering more receipts—still learning, still refining—but the picture is becoming clearer.

For now, I’m moving forward with intention and clarity: as a Technical Data Storyteller.
