“Fitness Is a journey, not a destination”

I love quotes! I started to collect quotes when we moved here to North Carolina (for the second time) and I started reading self-help books, trying to figure out where my energy went. I was sleeping a lot and was procrastinating on everything. Anyhow, that is when I started collecting questions that has now turned into a love of mine.

I haven’t collected quotes as much these days but thought it would be fun to start again – and add a little something to it. This section of my online magazine will be devoted to a quote and my thoughts around it.

Goal for 2026

One of my goals for 2026 is to “Renew My Energy”. I have reached post-menopause and am now feeling my energy to do things returning. I’m not quite there yet but I am working on it. I realize that the things that gave me energy in the past don’t necessarily work for me today. Even though I may not want to go back to the same old things - they are evidence of things I like and/or what works for me.

When I was young I didn’t worry about my weight. Yes, I was too skinny but I never worried about it. I want to go back to that way of being – not worrying (stressing) so I want something I can do for the rest of my life (not some fad or challenge for 30 days). Yes, fitness is a journey - not a destination after 30 days.

Now the rest is what? How?

I think looking at it as a journey and not a destination – the end of a challenge or the end of the 15minute workout – is an excellent start.

In Conclusion

To me a journey would be, how can I fit movement into every aspect of my life – like parking far away from the entrance of a store and walking the whole length of the parking lot. Or how I used to do 12 squats, right before I stepped into the shower. Those were fun when I first started doing them – now I need to find some new ways to move more.
