“Joy Is An Act Of Resistance”

The world is full of negativity these days – being Joyful is an act of resistance. I’ve created an Instagram account just for that purpose. In fact, my blog and even my online magazine were created in that spirit.

As I sit here trying to write this article, I’m wondering if I’ve been following the News and Politics for too long, that I’ve forgotten what brings me joy? Or could it be that I’ve gotten older and what brought me joy in the past no longer does? And being so focused on the negative that I haven’t explored what new joy there is to find?

It looks like I just needed to be reminded. I took a look at the plan I created and was quickly reminded of what brings me joy today – movies and streaming TV series being one of them.

I ended 2025 with struggles of finding something that peaked my interest and I have to admit research movies and streaming series for 2026 wasn’t much better. I did find a few things…

Movies:

It looks like “Dune Part Three” will be coming out – I am looking forward to this movie. “Return of the Living Dead”, “Resident Evil” and “The Mummy” look interesting but not a ‘i can’t wait’ situation.

Streaming Series:

There are more streaming series that I’m looking forward to, than movies. I am absolutely looking forward to seeing: “House of Dragon - Season 3”, “Lioness - Season 3”, “A Knight of Seven Knight (part of Game of Thrones)”, “Silo - Season 3” and “Tehran - Season 3”.

I am also looking forward to “The Terminal List: Dark World - Season 2” and “Chief of War - Season 2", however it has not been announced if there will be second seasons.

Now I loved “The Last of Us, Season 1”, “The Last of Us, Season 2” was decent. I’m not so much looking forward to season 3 because one of the main characters was killed in season two.

In Conclusion

Joy is definitely an act of resistance and I plan on being in full resistance in 2026. I am looking forward to several streaming series, however I’m not sure watching tv/movies brings me as much joy as before. It will be interesting to see if this continues to be a joy or more of a strain.
